The semi-finalists of the open call for Western Balkan young designers to take part in the ReCulture project have been selected. Among the 41 applicants, 16 young designers were chosen to proceed to the next and final round of the selection process. Good luck!
16 semi-finalists have been chosen to move on to the final round of selection of young designers to contribute to the reinvention of four Western Balkan cultural institutions under the ReCulture project.
The overall aim of the ReCulture project is establishing a basis for improved visibility and modernized appearance of Western Balkan cultural institutions by supporting the inter-sectoral linking and cooperation between cultural and creative industries within the Western Balkans and EU Member States. In order to succeed in this cause, for each cultural institution a transnational team of designers is being assigned to work on the entire process of rebranding. These teams include young, inspiring designers and design and architecture students, mentored by EU and WB experts.
The call was open to talented young graphic designers, architects, visual artists and design and architecture students aged 20-27, residing in the Western Balkan region, who were asked to send in a portfolio, short bio, and brief motivational letter. Their entries were reviewed anonymously by a 6-member jury consisting of 2 design professionals from the EU and 4 design professionals from Western Balkans.
Having received 41 applications from across Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo*, North Macedonia and Albania, from applicants with backgrounds ranging from students, architects, and designers to art directors, university assistants, illustrators and fashion designers, the jury has selected 16 candidates to move to the next round.
